MaKing Ink!!

As part of our founding father research project on Friday students made their own ink and tried their hand at writing with a quill! Ask your child how we created our very own red ink!!

Lots of squishing going on!!

Love the working together here! Way to go guys!!

This is some serious stuff!
Again, great group work and cooperation!

We actually had some pretty good red ink after all the work! Many red fingers I might add, but a great group cooperation and learning experience!

Gods and Goddesses

As sixth graders continue to learn about the Greeks they created a Gods and Goddesses graphic organizer. Working in the standing-up position seems to make the brain work better:)

Notice the "new" this year Social Studies books. They are wonderful! Ancienct civilizations are tough, but the text has been so helpful! Sitting down seems to suit this group!

Colored markers always make the job more fun, and hopefully more memorable!!

Pocket People

The fifth grade students researched and created pocket people for our founding fathers. They had to write a 3-5 paragraph paper explaining why their person was called a founding father. They then came up with at least 5 items their father would have carried and why! Students then presented their reports and pocket person to the class!

Working hard!

Looking good!

Writing workshop sculptures!

The week of Jan 23-27 the 4th grade Writing Workshop students created a clay sculpture and then wrote a narrative piece to go with the creation. Stories and sculptures will be on display in the music room hallway the week of Feb 6th. Stop by and see some of the fun stories and ideas!

Students love the clay and came up with some great sculptures!

Picture break! Smile!

HoliDaY ExTRavAgaNza

To finish up our Holiday Extravaganza (that was interrupted by a blizzard), students had a Dodge Ball tourney. They absolutely love this!! They had a great time and ran off LOTS of energy!!

Bucket Fillers

For the next 6 weeks students are asked to be "Bucket Fillers" and not "Bucket Dippers". After reading a story about what a bucket filler looks like, students created their own buckets. These are in the hallway and students are asked to fill others' buckets with positive and encouraging statements. We want to rid our school of "Bucket Dippers" and create the best "Bucket Fillers" ever!!

Students will fill the class buckets by attaching a sticker each day homework is completed and handed in on time.

More bucket makers!

and more....
